Intel discontinues bitcoin mining chip series
Chipmaking heavyweight Intel is ending production of its bitcoin mining chip series, the company said in a statement to CoinDesk on Tuesday.
“As we prioritize our investments in IDM 2.0, we have end-of-lifed the Intel Blockscale 1000 Series ASIC [application specific integrated circuit] while we continue to support our Blockscale customers,” an Intel spokesperson said.
The news was first reported by Tom’s Hardware.
No orders will be taken after Oct. 20 and the last product will be shipped no later than April 20, 2024, according to a document on Intel’s website.
Trezor wallet enables bitcoin privacy feature with CoinJoin
Cryptocurrency hardware wallet firm Trezor is expanding the privacy of Bitcoin transactions through collaboration with the privacy-focused Wasabi Wallet.
Trezor has rolled out the privacy-enabling CoinJoin feature on its hardware wallets, allowing users to enhance the privacy and security of Bitcoin transactions.
In the announcement on April 19, Trezor noted that the new function is immediately live on the company’s Trezor Model T wallet. The company plans to enable the CoinJoin option for its first hardware wallet, the Model One, in the near future.
CoinJoin is a process used to anonymize Bitcoin transactions that enables users to send their BTC as part of a large collaborative transfer and obfuscate transaction history. The method was introduced by former Bitcoin core developer Gregory Maxwell in August 2013, providing an option to send BTC transactions more privately.

MicroStrategy’s Saylor fuses work email address with lightning
The bitcoin lightning network has integrated into the corporate email address of Michael Saylor, a Bitcoin bull and co-founder of business intelligence software firm MicroStrategy.
In an April 17 tweet, the former chief executive of the firm shared a screenshot with his 3 million Twitter followers of a few transactions sent to “saylor@microstrategy.com” from others in the form of Satoshis or “Sats” — the smallest denomination of Bitcoin.
MicroStrategy’s integration is enabled by the Lightning Address protocol, which allows users to link an “Internet Identifier” like an email address rather than having to copy wallet addresses or use QR codes.
